In June 2024, Afriex introduced the Afriex Global Account, a multi-currency account feature designed to empower individuals in Africa by enabling them to open USD, GBP, and EUR bank accounts for seamless international money transfers. This feature was tailored for freelancers, SMEs, startups, and digital nomads, allowing them to receive, send, and exchange money in over 10 currencies through the Afriex app.
Task
I was entrusted with the responsibility of designing and developing a landing page for the Afriex Multi-currency Account, along with creating an announcement video to introduce the feature to existing and prospective customers.
Process
Understanding the Project
The initial phase involved understanding the project in detail. I engaged in discussions with the Product Manager and Product Designer to gain a comprehensive understanding of the feature, its benefits, and the core message we wanted to convey.
Research and Inspiration
Armed with the knowledge from these discussions, I conducted research to identify how other businesses with similar features communicated them on their websites. This research provided valuable insights and references that informed the direction of my work.
Copywriting
Due to time constraints and limited resources, I took on the task of writing the copy for the website. My goal was to craft content that effectively communicated the benefits of the multi-currency account. Once completed, I shared the copy with my teammates for review and refinement.
Design & Website Development
With the copy in hand, I moved on to designing the webpage. My focus was on selecting appropriate images and app screens that would resonate with our target audience. After several iterations and feedback sessions with the team, I finalised a functional design that met our communication goals.
The development phase was executed using Webflow, leveraging existing assets and variables to ensure consistency across the Afriex website and to meet the project deadline. After development, the final product was reviewed by my team, the Project Manager, and the Product Designer. Feedback was incorporated before the project was completed.
Announcement Video
Conceptualisation and Execution
For the announcement video, I collaborated closely with my teammates in the marketing team. After receiving the script and thoroughly understanding the brief, I conducted research and developed a storyboard to visualise the concept. The video was created in multiple dimensions (1080x1920, 1200x1200, and 1200x628) to accommodate various platforms and ad formats, ensuring maximum reach.
Impact
Although I left Afriex shortly after completing this project, initial results were promising. Within the first month of launch, the Afriex Multi-currency Account garnered over 1,000 sign-ups and had more than 200 active users. These early metrics indicate a positive reception and strong potential for growth.
